Review of 2 Books

I know I am a little late but here is my review on Finikin of the Rock and The Great Gatsby.

The Great Gatsby
Grade: B+

So this book is really good. It tells the story of Gatsby, a wealthy man in the 1920s through the eyes of Nick. This view point is interesting and I like books that take this turn such as Lemoney Snicket's books and The Book Thief (Both are must reads by the way) however Nick was too involved and honestly got in the way of Gatsby's story. I enjoyed the book and found it to be a great read but was not taken away by it.

 Finikin of the Rock
Grade: A-

This book was Great. The author was one I had read before and truly enjoyed. This book is a fantasy vs the realistic fiction that she ussually writes. However that made it just even better. The twist that she pulled in the novel shocked even me who picks up on twists like the one she used right away in most cases. The story is of a group exiles being lead by another who supposedly knows where the long lost heir to their land which was taken over by a false king. I feel like I would enjoy her going back and writing prequels to this to describe more of the poltics of the story. It would greatly add something.

Thats all for now but more is to come on these books as well as all the others soon.

Till then

Book 11 and Frankenstein Review.

Hello.

I'm getting a little better its only Sunday and I have my first post of the week up. Anyways my book for this week is another classic novel the 1925 novel The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald. Now for my review of Frankenstien.

Grade A:

First a little thing I learned from my planner. Mary Shelly first published Frankenstein in 1818 on March 11. Upon seeing this I immediately marked in my planner to make my book for that week Frankenstein the classic novel of a mad scientist who creates a horrible beast from dead humans. The back of my copy had a note first time readers leave all thoughts from movies behind there is no flat headed, neck bolted monsters in this book. Indeed there were not but there is of course still a monster. Unlike what most popular culture portrays this monster as however he is not just a killer but rather simply a human made from parts of dead bodies. He learns to speak and rationally think and hate. The book is terrific, an interesting point of view setup, great writing by Mary Shelly, and most of all a terrific plot. Do not let the movies deceive you, read Frankenstein I assure you will not forget it.

Review of Night and Week 10 Book

Hello Everyone.

So I have been just tired from my show that was this previous weekened. However here is my review of Night.

Grade: B+

Its a good book but its not great. Night is a true story of the authors time during the Holocaust. Now lets get one thing staight I am a VERY sesitive person when it comes to the Holocaust especially as I am Jewish. I have also read a lot of Holocaust novels both fictional and true stories. This one is emotional but not at the emotional level that I saw in other novels such as Diary of A Young Girl (Anne Frank's Diary) or I Have Lived a Thousand Years both of wich are also true stories. One factor is the lack of detail.  The book is short a little over a 100 pages. The book is still a great book that all people should read as a diffrent prespective on the Holocaust.

Now for this weeks book. The book for this week is Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. More to come later this week.
